It all began with Harry, on a cold day back in December 1999. Harry was a sprightly WWII air-force pilot who had with duty served our country. He was feeling down because he’d had his teeth removed three months earlier at a district hospital.
Harry came to us for a set of false teeth.
Harry was an addict. If he wasn’t eating chocolate, it was toffee or something else equally gooey. He’d had rotten teeth all his life, and now he’d lost the battle to keep
his own teeth. Coming to terms with this was proving hard.
We patiently told him that sculpturing bespoke teeth would need a number of visits on his part. He nodded his agreement and we went to work. Harry was a delightful patient, with impeccable manners, charm and a fund of stories about jet-fighter heroism and old-fashioned chivalry.
Harry left happy, due back in a few days. Sadly, that evening, he tripped and fell on
the slippery pavement. Harry had broken every limb, cracked two ribs and suffered concussion. With his bones in a mess, the doctors described him as the ‘flowerpot man’.
Harry never quite made a full recovery and had to live in a nursing home. But he insisted we continue his dental work. When we visited him, he told us he was “kind of blue all over” but expressed how delighted he was , to see the ‘kind dentist man again’. The name stuck, and we finally fitted a beaming Harry with his first set of brilliantly sculptured and dazzling bespoke teeth.
Old Harry has since passed on, but KindBlue continues to grow and provide quality, personalised domiciliary dental care in care homes, hospitals and private residences all over the South East.
